AboutAbout Allergy Hunter

Made by someone who needed it.

Allergy Hunter started because certain foods were causing trouble and it was hard to tell which. We built tools to log exposures and reactions, then analyze the timing between them.

Allergy Hunter started with a simple frustration: certain foods were causing trouble, and it was hard to tell which ones.

So we built the tools to quickly log food and other exposures, record allergic reactions, and automatically analyze the timing between them, surfacing commonalities and patterns that help narrow down the cause.

FOOD ALLERGY

Involves the immune system

Symptoms within minutes to two hours.Symptoms usually develop within minutes to two hours of eating the offending food, and can range from mild to severe.

FOOD INTOLERANCE

Bothersome, less seriousBothersome, but less serious

AI-Smart Scan on a phone, scanning a breakfast plate
AI-Smart Scan

Log a meal from a single photo.

Point your phone at your plate, a drink, a medicine label or anything else you’re around, and AI-Smart Scan picks out what’s there and adds it to your diary. No typing, and the time is logged for you.

How it works

The methods behind Allergy Hunter.

OUR METHODS

IntelliTrak®

For each thing you log, our pattern recognition algorithm compares how often a reaction follows it with how often reactions follow your other entries around the same times. It’s based on two established statistical methods: case-crossover design, which compares a person against themselves at different times, and Bayesian shrinkage, which stops a couple of coincidences from looking like a pattern.

AI

How we use AI

AI picks out what’s in the photos you scan and helps keep our allergen groups up to date. You check the list before anything from a scan is saved, and IntelliTrak® looks for the patterns in what gets logged.

FDA AND USDA

Product data

Allergy Hunter is integrated with FDA and USDA product data. When you scan a product’s barcode, we use that data to find the product’s ingredients, including the active and inactive ingredients in many medicines, and check them against your Known Allergens before anything is saved to your diary. IntelliTrak® can then look for patterns in the ingredients themselves, even when they come from different products.

When USDA and FDA don’t have a product, we also check Open Food Facts, a public database anyone can edit. Contains data from Open Food Facts, available under the Open Database License.

Allergy Hunter doesn’t diagnose allergies or give medical advice. If a reaction is severe, get medical help right away.
