Food allergy tracker questions, answered.
The short version: AllergyHunter is a free food and symptom diary that finds patterns for you. It helps your doctor, but it doesn’t replace them.
Is AllergyHunter free?
Yes. AllergyHunter is free. Your diary, AI-Smart Scan meal photos, barcode lookups, Known Allergens warnings and IntelliTrak® pattern reports all cost nothing, and no credit card is needed.
How can I find out what food I’m reacting to?
Keep a detailed food and symptom diary, then look at what you had before each reaction compared with your other days. That’s exactly what AllergyHunter does: you log what you eat, drink, take and are around, tap in reactions, and IntelliTrak® flags the items that come before your reactions far more often than usual.
Take the findings to your doctor or allergist. They can confirm a food allergy with skin or blood tests, or guide a supervised elimination diet.
How long after eating can an allergic reaction happen?
Food allergy symptoms usually start within minutes to about two hours after eating. Intolerances and some other reactions can show up several hours later, or the next day. That delay is why reactions are hard to pin down from memory.
IntelliTrak® checks two windows for every item you log: quick reactions within 6 hours, and delayed reactions 4 to 24 hours later.
What’s the difference between a food allergy and a food intolerance?
A food allergy involves the immune system. Symptoms usually start within minutes to two hours and can be severe. A food intolerance doesn’t involve the immune system; it is far more common, usually milder, and easy to confuse with an allergy. AllergyHunter helps you track both, and your doctor can tell them apart.
How does IntelliTrak® find patterns?
For each thing you log, IntelliTrak® checks how often you had a reaction afterwards (within 6 hours for quick reactions, and 4 to 24 hours later for delayed ones) and compares it with how often you react after the other things you log. Something you have every day only stands out if your reactions really do follow it more often than usual, and a couple of coincidences aren’t enough to flag anything.
Findings are labeled Likely trigger (a strong, repeated match) or Worth watching (a weaker match that needs more data). If two things are almost always logged together, IntelliTrak® tells you, because having one without the other is the way to find out which it is.
It starts looking for patterns once you have 14 days of diary entries and 3 reactions logged, and the more you log, the better the results.
What should I write in a food and symptom diary?
Log everything you eat and drink (with brands and ingredients when you can), medications and supplements, and things around you like pets, pollen, smoke or cleaning products, each with the time. For reactions, note the symptoms, how strong they were and when they started.
AllergyHunter makes this quick: scan a meal photo or a product barcode, and record a reaction in a couple of taps. The time is saved for you.
Can AllergyHunter scan barcodes and food labels for allergens?
Yes. Scan a product barcode and AllergyHunter looks up its ingredients in USDA and FDA product data, including the active and inactive ingredients in many medicines, and warns you if anything matches your Known Allergens before it’s saved. It also alerts you to FDA recalls on scanned medicines. AI-Smart Scan can also log a plate of food, a drink or a label from a single photo.
Product data can be incomplete, so always read the label too.
Is AllergyHunter a replacement for a medical professional?
No. AllergyHunter helps you spot patterns and gives you diary logs and reports to take to your doctor or allergist. It doesn’t diagnose allergies or give medical advice.
What should I do if I’m having a severe reaction?
Call 911 or your local emergency number right away. Allergic reactions can range from mild (like itchy skin or a rash) to severe (like trouble breathing, swelling of the lips or throat, or feeling faint). If you have been prescribed epinephrine, use it as directed.
Can I print my logs for my allergist?
Yes. Reports & Tools shows your pattern summary and your full diary, and you can export your exposure diary as a spreadsheet (CSV) to print or send to your doctor.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. AllergyHunter runs in your phone’s web browser on iPhone and Android, so there’s nothing to download from an app store. You can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. AI-Smart Scan uses your phone’s camera.
Who can see my data?
Your diary is tied to your account and isn’t shown to other users, and we don’t sell your personal information. When you use AI-Smart Scan, the photo is sent to our image-recognition service so it can identify what’s in it.
